E -bikes are a low emission alternative to driving and a great way to combat climate change. With an electric motor to help you pedal, e-bikes make journey times shorter and hill climbs easier. Finding the right e-bike can be difficult and expensive, so we’re offering local residents the chance to try one locally for free.

EPIKs are working in partnership with Kirkburton Parish Council (KBPC) to run a series of free Try an E-Bike events for local residents in July 2021. Kirkburton Parish Council includes Shepley, Shelley, Lepton and Kirkheaton. This will be followed up later from August to October with an E-bike library when we will be offering a free two-week loan of an E-bike.

For the Try an E-Bike events, all residents of KBPC have to do is book a test ride then bring the relevant i.d. on the day. We’ll explain the workings of the E-bike, then you have a free test ride led by one of our instructors. Note this isn’t training you about how to ride a bike; to take the bike out you’ll have to be confident in your ability to ride on the roads.
The Kirkburton Try an E-Bike roadshow dates are:

Once you’ve tried the e-bike, you could be eligible for a free two-week loan. This pilot scheme is running from August to October 2021.

Sign up to our newsletter here to be kept up to date with the latest news on the E-bike Library.

To be eligible for a free e-bike loan you will need to Register for the E-bike Library.
If you are approved for an e-bike loan, you will be able to book your free two week trial. Bookings will open on 2nd August.

Collections will be made on a Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. E-bikes will be picked up and returned to Try Cycling in Kirkburton.

When you collect an e-bike we’ll explain a bit more detail about the arrangements before you take them away (security, what to do if things go wrong etc). Once the loan period is over we will ask you for feedback on the E-Bike Library project to help our future planning.
