EPIKS is creating an online hub to give people advice and inspiration to travel on foot, by bike, scooter, wheelchair or buggy in Kirklees. The ‘virtual’ hub will be a one-stop-shop for people of all ages and abilities named ‘Walk, Wheel, Ride Kirklees’.
The Walk Wheel Ride website was launched during national bike week and we are asking groups, businesses and organisations from across Kirklees to let us know if they would like to feature on the website. Now matter what your contribution to walking, wheeling or cycling, we’d like to hear from you.
Cutting down our trips by car is becoming ever-more pressing for climate action. Making journeys under our own steam is a great way to get fit and enjoy the outdoors. EPIKS has been working for years to improve accessible paths in Kirklees green spaces, give people the opportunity to try an e-bike and work with partners to encourage active travel. We realised that there were a host of great opportunities to walk and ride with local groups, resources to help map and plan routes and local businesses offering great products, but information was disjointed and sometimes hard to find. Thanks to funding from City Connect through its Community Grants scheme we’ve made a start at listing all the help that’s available throughout Kirklees through a new website and social media. See more about what CityConnect does to support communities across West Yorkshire at – Our work with communities
This summer we will be taking the Walk, Wheel, Ride Roadshow to busy public events, where EPIKS will be promoting the online hub, offering advice and consulting visitors on their ideas about what we could do to help people of all abilities and backgrounds travel more sustainably. Join us on as a visitor, volunteer or partner on the WWR Roadshow:
